We noticed a small lump on PJ's leg last year.
Within a short time it got very large.... Surgery was
needed and the vet asked if we could have a blood
donor on call fearing being that it was blood filled
and would cause a severe blood loss. One morning-
we decided, there was no time to wait. Surgery had
to be done immediately.
We had several birds (of different species) on
standby for blood donations should it be needed.
Most vets prefer same species bird donor, but we
looked all over the country for a rescue and couldn't
find one...
PJ came thru the surgery with flying colors. We
took him home hours after the surgery with
instructions to keep him quiet !! YEAH RIGHT,
KEEP A CAIQUE QUIET !! AND STILL !!! LOL..
GO AHEAD AND TRY !!! We gave him a small
cage, a water bowl and food bowl. Within
SECONDS he was in the water bowl bathing.. !! It
I could figure out how to put it on the website, I
would include his video !! You can see the suture
area..... from his ankle to his tail !! The tumor was
not attached to the bone which was also feared
and was not blood filled. He is DOING GREAT !!!
